Tottenham Hotspur are undoubtedly a club on the rise.

Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino spoke to reporters during his pre-match press conference, and responded to suggestions made by one of his star players that Tottenham do not need to sign anyone the summer, as quoted by popular football news website Football.London.
The Lilywhites have enjoyed a successful campaign this season, despite it ultimately ending in failure, after they failed to overhaul Chelsea at the top of the table.
The have already secured their highest ever Premier League finish, however, and that must be cause for real optimism at Spurs, especially with their move to the new 61,000 capacity stadium just one year away.
Tottenham undoubtedly have one of the strongest first XI’s in the league, but their strength in depth in questionable, and Pochettino responded to comments from Dele Alli that they do not actually need to sign anyone this summer, in order to make a sustained challenge for the Premier League title next term, as quoted by Football.London:
“It’s a good perception from the player, but the players are the players. The vision is always different. I am very happy that the players’ perception is that. You know very well that when you are second then you must improve if you want to win. Next season will be completely different and be sure that all our enemies and opponents will try to improve their squads. I think I understand what he’s trying to say. But in life you cannot stay happy with what you are doing now. You must try to improve. This summer and next season, we must try to find the way to inspire, to motivate and push them further in our performance. To try to add more quality if we are able to discover or find that type of player to help us next season.”

Even the most ardent of Spurs fans would surely admit that their side needs strengthening in a couple of keys areas, most notably the forward department, what with Erik Lamela’s going injury situation and Vincent Janssen yet to prove himself in the Premier League.
And the hard work will begin now for Pochettino, with the difficult task of finding a player good enough to strengthen his already strong group of players, without spending copious amounts – something that Tottenham as a club have rarely done throughout their existence.
