Pochettino’s one-word response when asked if Tottenham’s Dele Alli was targeted by United players

The Tottenham Hotspur ace struggled against Manchester United.

Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino spoke to reporters following his side’s loss to Manchester United yesterday, and responded to questions asking him if Dele Alli received unfair treatment from Jose Mourinho’s side, as quoted by popular football news website Football.London.

The north London outfit were far from their best against the Red Devils, and lacked any kind of cutting edge in the final third, which eventually proved to be costly.

Tottenham’s attacking emphasis fell on Dele Alli, in the absence of Harry Kane, and the 21-year-old failed to deliver for his side, although he was marked tightly throughout the duration of the contest.

The England international was given minimal space with which to work, never threatening the United goal.

And Pochettino fielded questions from reporters asking him if Alli received unfair treatment from the United players, as quoted by Football.London:

“No. I think all the teams love to compete against us. We are the target. That is my feeling, but that is good. It seems like we are growing up in the last few seasons. We are competitive and the potential is there. That is good. I don’t feel Dele Alli but maybe you have a better idea a better view from TV that I cannot perceive from the touchline.”

Alli has not been himself this year, and has struggled to replicate last season’s fine form for both club and country.

He is still only 21, however, and fans, the media and pundits must remember not to be too overly critical with him, as he continues to develop as both a footballer and a hunan being.
