Tottenham Hotspur have been well out-spent by the likes of Liverpool and Manchester City in recent years.

Mauricio Pochettino insisted that Tottenham are extremely different to Liverpool and Manchester City in the way that they operate, when speaking exclusively to Catalunya Radio.
The Reds and City have spent lavishly over the past couple of years, whilst Spurs have not signed a single player since January 2018.
It really is quite incredible that Tottenham have competed as well as they have done over the past two years, considering the financial constraints that Pochettino has been under.
And the Argentine insisted that this summer will be different, when speaking exclusively to Catalunya Radio, although he did highlight how Spurs will still have to operate differently to England’s top two clubs:

“It is imperative that this year we strengthen the team. We saved a lot of money in almost two years without signing, and that should allow us to strengthen ourselves well. At Manchester City and Liverpool, Pep Guardiola and Jürgen Klopp are free to decide which players they want and which ones they do not. However, in other teams such as Tottenham, Chelsea or Arsenal the make up of the squad isn’t in the hands of the coaches.”
If Tottenham make two or three top class signings this summer, they will have every chance of ending their 11-year wait for a major trophy next season.
Pochettino will be under real pressure to produce the goods next term. He has worked wonders during his spell in charge of Spurs, but usurping Liverpool and Manchester City next season really will be another challenge all together.
