Mousa Dembele could feature for Tottenham against Leicester City.

Tottenham Hotspur boss Mauricio Pochettino has told Football.London that Mousa Dembele has a good chance of playing against Leicester City.

Dembele, 30, has been a key player under Pochettino, finally fulfilling his potential with Spurs following a 2012 move from Fulham, but this has been a frustrating season for him.

The Belgian international has started just four Premier League games this season, with his own fitness struggles and the form of Harry Winks serving as contributing factors.

Dembele came on as a substitute in the 1-1 draw against West Bromwich Albion on Saturday afternoon but couldn’t help Spurs find a win, leading to questions about his role on Tuesday night.

Spurs travel to the King Power Stadium to take on Leicester City, and with just one point taken from the last two Premier League games, a win is needed for Pochettino’s side.

Ahead of the game, Pochettino was asked just why Dembele has been missing, and the Argentinian admitted that he wanted to keep Winks in the team, but Dembele could feature against Leicester, with a ‘lot of chance’ of playing.

Pochettino added to Football.London that Dembele struggles to play 90 minutes still, and he spent the international break talking to Belgian boss Roberto Martinez about how to improve Dembele’s fitness – but praised the midfielder for a ‘massive impact’ against West Brom.

“I think Harry Winks was doing well, but maybe he will have the possibility to play tomorrow,” said Pochettino. “It’s similar sometimes when a player are coming back from an injury or some problems and we are always trying to take care of them, trying to make the right decision for them and for the team and then of course, in some points it’s a tactical decision too. I think he has a lot of chance to play tomorrow.”

“He still struggles a little bit. Remember he was two, three weeks away. It was before the international break. I was talking to Roberto Martinez, trying to provide him with the best tools to try to improve his fitness. If you remember he played 45 minutes in the first game than 25 minutes. He’s getting better and better, but he needs more training to try to get consistent and then to cope with 90 minutes. I am happy because his performance had a massive impact against West Brom on Saturday,” he added.
