Pochettino suggests Moura or Llorente could replace injured Kane

Tottenham are without the injured Harry Kane right now.

Tottenham Hotspur boss Mauricio Pochettino has told Football.London that both Lucas Moura and Fernando Llorente are options to fill in for the injured Harry Kane.

Top goalscorer Kane suffered another ankle injury in the 4-1 win over Bournemouth last weekend, and will now miss around four weeks, leaving Spurs with a major hole to fill in attack.

On Saturday afternoon, Spurs beat Swansea City 3-0 in the FA Cup, and Pochettino decided to go with Son Heung-min as a striker, with Christian Eriksen, Erik Lamela and Lucas Moura supporting him.

It seems that winger Son – who has hit 18 goals in all competitions this season – will be given the nod to replace Kane, despite centre forward not being the South Korean’s natural position.

The only recognised centre forward Spurs have is Fernando Llorente, but the Spaniard has endured a difficult season in North London, scoring just five goals in all competitions since his August move from Swansea City.

In fact, the London Evening Standard recently reported that Spurs may even cash in on Llorente this summer, as they have no plans to use the 32-year-old as a replacement for Kane.

Ahead of Saturday’s trip to Swansea, Pochettino told Football.London that he feels he has a number of options at his disposal to fill in for Kane, including linked-away striker Llorente, giving the Spaniard hope of another chance.

Pochettino added that he thinks new signing Moura can also play in attack if needed, but he will need to pick the right option for each specific game, rather than simply naming one player as Kane’s replacement.

“I think we have different players that can play in that position,” said Pochettino. “Dele Alli, Lamela, Son, Llorente, Lucas Moura. For me, most important is how you are going to use the same in every single game, trying to defeat the different tactics that the opponent is going to use. But I think we have quality enough and different alternatives we can use. Now I need to be right, picking what is going to be the best for every single game when Harry is out,” he added.
