Tottenham Hotspur boss Mauricio Pochettino is feeling the Christmas spirit.
Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino is so pleased with his side’s recent upturn in form that he has decided to give the players extra time off over the Christmas period, as reported by the Mirror.
The Tottenham squad were told they did not have to train yesterday or today, and have also been given Christmas day off to spend with their families – something that is unusual for Premier League sides.
And Spurs star Victor Wanyama expressed his delight at the decision, as quoted by the Mirror:

“My family is travelling over from Kenya, so I will spend time with them. In recent years, when I played for Southampton, I’ve been invited to a friend’s house and had matches to prepare for. But it will be great to spend time with my family this year.”
While Vincent Janssen also intends to take advantage of Pochettino’s show of good faith, again quoted by the Mirror:
“My family is coming over from Holland so we will have a nice day, play some games, watch some movies and spend some quality time together.”

The Lilywhites actually have Boxing Day off, and do not play until December 28th, when they head down to the south coast to take on Southampton at St Mary’s.
And after their recent run of form, the Tottenham side should be full of confidence as they head into the festive period, especially now, after being given more time to spend with their loved ones.
Pochettino will be hoping that his decision does not backfire though, with his reputation as an elite manager coming under constant scrutiny.
The Argentine has made a call that could either make or break Spurs’ season, and for that in itself, he deserves the utmost credit for having the courage to match his conviction.
