The Tottenham Hotspur forward’s continuing absence is becoming a real concern.

Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino spoke to reporters during his pre-match press conference, and offered a bullish response to questions regarding the future of Erik Lamela, suggesting that it will be impossible for the Argentine to leave the club, as quoted by the Daily Mail.

The 25-year-old winger has not played since October, and Tottenham fans have been growing increasingly frustrated with his absence from the first-team setup, with no official diagnosis for his problems being announced by the club.

The uncertainty surrounding Lamela’s return to the fold at White Hart Lane has led to rumours linking him with an exit, most notably with Corriere dello Sport’s report claiming that Inter Milan are keen on bringing the former Roma man back to Italy.

But Pochettino refuted any kind of talk regarding a potential exit for Lamela from the club this summer, when speaking to the media, and urged the Spurs fans to offer their full backing for the crocked star, as quoted by the Daily Mail:

“It is impossible for him, impossible for the club, impossible for his agent, impossible for his people, to think about moving. Where? Now he needs help. I think you know better than me that it does not make sense. He needs our love, our support, and sure that all is going well. I hope all is going and he starts to think about recovery as soon as possible.”

On his day, Lamela can be a world beater, and it is definitely in Spurs’ interest as a club to show him support by sticking by him though this extremely challenging period.

And if they do that, Pochettino and the club’s fans will be hoping that they are rewarded for their loyalty, with the Argentine’s return to full fitness and top form.
