Tottenham Hotspur would be significantly strengthened with the attacker in their ranks but Arsenal are also said to be keen.
As reported by the Mirror, Arsenal have now joined the race to sign Crystal Palace winger Wilfried Zaha, but their North London rivals Tottenham Hotspur should do everything in their power to bring the 25-year-old to their part of North London while they have the chance.
Tottenham need quality additions in key areas and Zaha fits the bill, and there is one big way Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino could convince the Ivory Coast international to opt for his side ahead of the Gunners.
Too many of Arsenal’s players have gone backwards under Arsene Wenger with Theo Walcott and, more recently, Hector Bellerin, the perfect examples.
In contrast, Pochettino has aided the development of a raft of Tottenham stars, with Harry Kane, Dele Alli, Danny Rose, Harry Winks and company all improving under the guidance of their manager.
As much as some Arsenal fans will disagree, they would be hard pressed to name any players that have come on in the same way under Wenger and, while the Frenchman will not be around forever, Zaha should be wary of joining a club where their current manager has shown a more recent weakness in coaching players to greater levels.
That has not always been the case under Wenger, but it is now, and Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy has that additional enticing factor if he does sit down to talk about a potential move for Zaha.
Tottenham are also in the Champions League, while Arsenal are making do with the Europa League and pushing to ensure that is a one-season situation.
But of all the reasons Zaha should opt for Tottenham, it is the prospect of him becoming an even better player under Pochettino that should not be ignored.
