Despite landing Fernando Llorente from Swansea City in August, Tottenham Hotspur may still be in the market for one more striker to develop being Harry Kane and veteran Llorente.
Given that Llorente is 32, another centre forward could still be on Mauricio Pochettino’s radar, and heading back to Argentina for another signing is something that the Spurs head coach should consider.
Pochettino raided his native Argentina to sign young Estudiantes defender Juan Foyth over the summer, showing that he is willing to do what few Premier League managers are prepared to do; bring in players directly from South America.
With that in mind, one striker fits the bill for Spurs, with Racing Club’s Lautaro Martinez continuing to impress at the age of just 20.
Martinez has now hit 13 goals in 42 games for Racing, impressing at such a young age, which has triggered interest in his signature ahead of the January transfer window.
Martinez was recently quoted by Marca as saying that Atletico Madrid boss Diego Simeone has told him how he will fit into his plans with the La Liga side, but Racing are fuming given that Atletico allegedly gave Martinez an unauthorised medical, as reported by Goal.

That bizarre situation may just give Spurs time to enter into the race for Martinez, and the prospect of loaning him back to Racing for him to play in their Copa Libertadores would also be appealing to all parties.
The deal for Foyth showed that Spurs are keeping an eye on South American football, and Martinez should be the next player on their wishlist – but they would have to move quickly to beat Atletico to his signature, which is something Pochettino and co should be considering ahead of 2018.
