Tottenham Hotspur will be hoping to keep all of their best players this summer.
Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino addressed the media during his pre-match press conference, and highlighted the importance of Daniel Levy speaking to the club’s fans, as was the case yesterday, as quoted by popular football news website Football.London.
Tottenham have some of the most highly sought-after players in world football amongst their current squad, and their fans have been dreading the day when Real Madrid or Barcelona come knocking for the likes of Harry Kane, Dele Alli and Christian Eriksen.
Spurs chairman Daniel Levy, though, ruled out the possibility of the club selling any of their prized assets yesterday, when speaking to reporters, quoted via Sky Sports:
“I’m 100 per cent confident. Every single player that we want to keep, I can assure you will be playing for Tottenham Hotspur next season.”
Pochettino then spoke to reporters about the importance of the Tottenham supremo delivering that kind of message to the club’s fans, what with so much talk of their star men leaving the club this summer, as quoted by popular football news website Football.London:
“Of course the chairman is the man who manages everything and in the end takes all the decisions. Always for the fans it’s important to hear him. Every word that he said yesterday we need to respect because he’s our boss. If he was talking in this way it’s because he’s confident to deliver it for the club.”
A lot can change in football, however, and it will be interesting to see if Levy’s stance on his players changes if and when a mammoth bid comes in for one of them in the summer.
