Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino addressed the media in the aftermath of his side’s hard-fought 2-2 draw with Liverpool at Anfield yesterday, and shared what he told the referee in the wake of his team’s late equaliser, as quoted by popular football news website Football.London.

Tottenham started the game sluggishly, and were second best to everything in the first-half. They went in at half-time 1-0 down, and deservedly so, but everything changed during the second half.

The north London outfit looked re-energised, and played with a certain kind of crispness and speed that was absent from their game during the first-half.

it could be argued that their second half display actually merited a victory, but upon reflection, they will surely settle for a point.

The game was not short of controversy, with Spurs being awarded two late penalties at the Kop end.

Pochettino addressed the media after the game, and shared what he told the officials after the game had finished, as quoted by Football.London:

Mauricio Pochettino, manager of Spurs reacts during the Premier League match between Tottenham Hotspur and AFC Bournemouth at Wembley Stadium on October 14, 2017 in London, England.

“I congratulated them, because to show the character they showed, it’s true that in this moment it was difficult to know if they were right. Then in the changing room I confirmed they were right in every single decision.”

Liverpool remain two points and two places above Spurs following yesterday’s draw, and the race for the Champions League spots remains very much alive, with roughly a third of the campaign still remaining.
