Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino spoke to reporters in the aftermath of his side’s impressive 2-1 victory over Manchester United, in what was the last ever game to be played at White Hart Lane, and discussed the club’s ambitions and expectations over the coming years, as quoted by popular football news website Football.London.
Tottenham secured second place in the table with the three points yesterday, and despite the players’ and fans’ obvious disappointment at missing out on the league title, this season must surely go down as a success for them.
The challenge now, however, will be to make further progress, by competing at the very highest level, and ultimately bringing home some major honours.
The Argentine told reporters how Spurs’ impending move to their new 61,000 capacity stadium has raised everyone’s expectation levels, as quoted by Football.London:
Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino
“We are talking a lot & we believe when the new stadium opens its door it will help the club to reach the last level – that’s our expectation, our idea. Because the facilities at the training ground and the new facilities at the new stadium will put the club at the last level in Europe.”
The Lilywhites are already an extremely strong side, with some of their players being the envy of the rest of the division, but Pochettino will undoubtedly have to strengthen his options during the off-season, if his side are to mount a successful challenge on all fronts.
