The Tottenham Hotspur ace has been in fine form recently.

Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino addressed the media today ahead of his side’s Premier League clash with Southampton on Sunday, and raved about Christian Eriksen, sharing the nickname he has given the Danish ace, as quoted by popular football news website Football.London.

The 25-year-old has been in sizzling form for Tottenham recently, scoring eight goals and chipping in with seven assists in 28 outings in all competitions thus far.

Eriksen joined the Lilywhites from Ajax in the summer of 2013, for a fee believed to be worth in the region of £12.5 million, and has been exceptional ever since, scoring 49 goals and chipping in with 64 assists in 207 outings for the club, establishing himself as one of Pochettino’s most important players in the process.

The Argentine spoke to reporters during his pre-match press conference today, and spoke highly of the Dane, opening up on the nickname he has given him, as quoted by Football.London:

“Christian is very bright. He’s a guy that has the facility to learn quickly. Very bright about language. When you say something in Spanish, he repeats it quickly and keeps it in his mind. Of course I still call him Golazo. The last goal against Everton was a golazo – an amazing goal. The whole team touched the ball, it was fantastic.”

Spurs currently sit outside the top four, and if they are to have any chance whatsoever of finishing inside the Champions League spots, Eriksen will have to be at his very best for the remainder of the campaign.
