Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino addressed the media ahead of his side’s FA Cup fourth round replay with Newport County at Wembley tonight, and responded to questions asking him if his players have told him that they are tired, as quoted by popular football news website Football.London.

Tottenham have been on a fine run of form recently, and have not lost a game since December 16th, although it could be argued that they were lucky to force a replay against Newport last month, having been outplayed for vast periods of the game at Rodney parade.

The Lilywhites currently sit in fifth spot in the Premier League table, a distant 20 points adrift of league leaders Manchester City, and despite the fact that they are still in the Champions League, it is fair to say that the FA Cup represents their best chance of winning a trophy this season.

This campaign has been a long and arduous one already for Spurs – tonight’s game will be their 37th in all competitions, and Pochettino responded to reporters when asked asked whether his players are feeling the strain, as quoted by popular football news website Football.London:

Mauricio Pochettino manager

“No, never the player is going to knock the door and say ‘gaffer i am tired’. Never this happened in real life, if you ask them they are always ready to compete and to play. It’s up to us to discover the truth and that’s why is so important in this country to have a squad.”

Following tonight’s game in the FA Cup, Tottenham face a huge clash with bitter rivals Arsenal at Wembley on Saturday, before they head out to Turin to take on Juventus in the Champions League on Tuesday night, and if they emerge from that little period unscathed, they will feel very confident about their chances of success for the remainder of the campaign.
