Tottenham Hotspur have been mightily impressive so far this season.

During an exclusive interview with Sky Sports pundit Guilem Ballague, Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino shared one of the psychological ploys that he uses to keep his players at the top of their game, as quoted by Sky Sports.
Tottenham have really impressed in the Premier League over the past three years, and it is all thanks to Pochettino, and the manner in which he has implemented his philosophies and ideas since taking over at the club in May 2014.
The Lilywhites currently sit in third position in the Premier League table, and have already qualified for the knock-out stages of the Champions League with two group games to spare.

They are, however, eight points adrift of Pep Guardiola’s rampant Manchester City side, so they can ill-afford too many more slip-ups, if they harbour genuine ambitions of winning the Premier League title.
And Pochettino shared an exchange he had with former Argentine footballer Jorge Valdano, opening up on one of the psychological games he uses to keep his players hungry for more, as quoted by Sky Sports:
“[Valdano] asked me why I had a ball on my desk. It’s because sometimes I throw it to my players and tell them to touch it and remember when they were three, four, five or six. I tell them to recover that feeling because that must be your priority in life. Of course you must make time for friends or your girlfriend but your priority must always be the ball.”

Next up for Tottenham is a huge clash with Arsenal in the Premier League on November 18th, and Pochettino will need all of his players to be at their very best, if they are to leave the Emirates with all three points.
