Tottenham Hotspur have had to cope without some of their key men through injury this season.

Speaking to reporters during his pre-match press conference, Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino fielded questions concerning the likelihood of him bringing any new faces into White Hart Lane this month, as quoted by the Daily Star.

The Argentine has constantly stated that he is happy with both the size and quality of his squad, although recent injuries to Jan Vertonghen and Toby Alderweireld must surely have tested his faith in the players in which he has available to him.

But Pochettino was steadfast in his response, when asked by reporters if he will be signing anyone over the next week, suggesting that the chances of any new arrivals at the club are slim to say the least, as quoted by the Daily Star:

“No. I told you from the first day that we are not thinking to sign players. I remember too, if some special player was available, maybe. But it doesn’t happen yet and for me it is not impossible, one per-cent maybe, but I don’t believe we will sign anybody.”

There will, of course, be Spurs fans who question the wisdom in their manager failing to add to his squad this month, with a player of Vertonghen’s importance set to spend such a prolonged spell on the sidelines.

Pochettino’s men are currently nine points adrift of league leaders Chelsea, and cannot afford to drop too many more points if they expect to push the Blues all the way in the Premier League title race.
