Tottenham Hotspur progressed through to the fourth round of the FA Cup yesterday after comfortably beating AFC Wimbledon.
Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino addressed the media yesterday, in the aftermath of his side’s comfortable 3-0 FA Cup win over AFC Wimbledon, and shared how Harry Kane reacted to being substituted in the 79th minute, with the chance to score a hat-trick still on the cards, as quoted by popular football news website Football.London.
The 24-year-old has been in sensational form this term, scoring 26 goals in 27 appearances in all competitions for Tottenham, and he has now firmly established himself as one of the continent’s most feared strikers, having finished 2017 as Europe’s top goalscorer.
He was once again at his very best yesterday, tormenting the Dons’ defence during the time that he was on the pitch.
Pochettino, though, brought Kane off with 11 minutes or so still to play, and the Argentine told reporters how the England international reacted to being substituted, as quoted by popular football news website Football.London:
“Yes, (laughs) no but today he said nothing. He went off and nothing more. To score twice today was important for him but more important for the team. And then I think after 75 minutes it was enough for him, 3-0 and I think it is important now to train and prepare him for the next game and recover.”
Next up for Spurs is a home game against Everton in the Premier League on Saturday, and they will be looking for a victory in order to keep pace with those currently above them in the table.
And if they are to do just that, one would imagine that Kane will once again have to be at his very best.
