Mauricio Pochettino has sent his best wishes to former Tottenham Hotspur playmaker Christian Eriksen.

There were hugely distressing scenes in Copenhagen tonight when the Denmark international collapsed during his country’s Euro 2020 opener against Finland.

Eriksen was transferred to hospital where the Danish football association confirmed that he was in a stable condition.

But television footage of medical professionals performing chest compressions on the former Tottenham star illustrated the gravity of the situation on the field at the time.

The football world pulled together for Eriksen with countless amounts of heartfelt tributes on social media.

And Pochettino, who managed the Inter Milan midfielder at Spurs, has now added his contribution.

After an obvious delay in the match, both teams ultimately resumed the game after the Danish players were reportedly told by Eriksen himself that he wanted it to continue.

The Danes slipped to a 1-0 defeat in the end but the result is paled into insignificance by the fact that football very nearly lost one of its own.
