The Tottenham Hotspur full-back has been quite simply brilliant over the past 12 months.
Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino addressed the media yesterday, in the aftermath of his side’s hard-earned victory over Fulham, and offered high words of praise for Kieran Trippier, although he insisted that the right-back can improve further still, as quoted by Football.London.
The 27-year-old joined Spurs from Burnley in the summer of 2015, for a fee believed to be worth in the region of just £3.5 million, but only really established himself in north London when Kyle Walker left for Manchester City 12 months ago.
And what an incredible player he has proven himself to be.
Trippier is now arguably one of both Pochettino’s and Gareth Southgate’s first names on their respective team-sheets, and he is widely considered to be one of the best attacking full-backs in world football.
Pochettino addressed the media after his side’s win over Fulham, and insisted that the right-back needs to improve further still, however, as quoted by Football.London:
“How to explain…I think the team worked very hard to find that space that Kieran can be bright in. That position when he arrives in the side, a higher position he has a very good quality in the cross. But it’s true that he had a lot of possibility to connect with offensive players but wasn’t. I think I am happy because it was a great goal, but he still needs to improve.”
Poch’s words just go to prove how demanding he is as a coach, and if Trippier does improve even further still, Tottenham will have one seriously good player on their hands.
