Tottenham Hotspur have one of the most promising young squads in European football.
During a wide-ranging interview with Spanish media outlet AS, Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino discussed the emergence of Dele Alli, and raved about the young midfielder, labelling him as the most important discovery in English football in years.
The 20-year-old has been in sensational form of late, after making a slow start to the 2016/17 campaign, and has scored five goals in his last three outings for Tottenham.
And Pochettino spoke to AS about the influence that Alli has on his side, and reeled off multiple attributes which make him such a good all-round player:
Tottenham’s Dele Alli celebrates
“He is a player who is very aggressive offensively, ruthless when going forward and with determination, which makes him extremely dangerous. He has a great understanding of the game, how he attacks spaces, a good mentality and self-confidence. He is the most important discovery of English football in recent years.”
Alli moved to White Hart Lane from MK Dons in 2015, for a fee believed to be in the region of £5 million, and has gone on to establish himself as an important player for both club and country.
Tottenham’s Dele Alli celebrates
He has scored an impressive 18 goals in 51 Premier League appearances for Spurs – figures that have seen him compared to Chelsea legend Frank Lampard.
And Tottenham will be relying on him again tonight as they welcome Chelsea to White Hart Lane for a game in which they must win if they are to keep their title hopes alive.
