Mauricio Pochettino has told Monday Night Football, which was broadcast on Sky Sports, that he found Leeds United’s goal ‘strange’ last night.

Dallas provided Leeds with a route back into their game against Leicester City, but the strike was a fortunate one.

The Northern Irish international was looking to pick out a teammate, but his crossed missed everyone and trickled in.

At that stage Leeds had pulled the score back to 2-1 and looked to be on the front foot.

But they ultimately fell to a 4-1 defeat, with Leicester sealing the game through late goals from Jamie Vardy and Youri Tielemans.

And Pochettino said: “It [the goal] was strange. But 2-0 and then to score gave Leeds a big hope but, of course, this situations can happen.

“It’s a little set-back, but Leicester are doing a fantastic job, and so is Marcelo.

“All the fans in this country are excited about watching Leeds and these bad results can happen in football.”

Leeds will hope that their latest defeat does not affect the confidence that they have built up over the early part of the campaign.

Marcelo Bielsa’s side have made an impressive start to the season, even after last night’s defeat, and still sit in 12th place in the Premier League table.

Leeds are next in action on Saturday, when they take on Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park.
