Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino sat down for his post-match press conference, following his side’s loss to Manchester United today, and discussed the impact that Harry Kane’s absence had on his team, as quoted by popular football news website Football.London.

Tottenham were totally bereft of any kind of cutting edge against Jose Mourinho’s side, eventually succumbing to a defeat at Old Trafford, and the 24-year-old hitman was conspicuous in his absence, with the Lilywhites failing to craft more than one gilt-edged chance.

It will be a major concern for Pochettino and his staff that his side seem so reliant upon the England international, and Pep Guardiola’s ‘Harry Kane team’ jibe is beginning to look rather profound.

And Pochettino responded to questions asking him if his side’s loss to the Red Devils was purely down to Kane’s absence, as quoted by Football.London:

“I told you before the game that you are always going to miss your main striker and Harry Kane is one of the best strikers in the word. But it’s not an excuse today, losing the game, because he wasn’t here. It is a collective sport and you must adapt when some players are not fit to play. I am happy with the performance from everyone and I think we deserved more than zero point.”

The 24-year-old year-old has been in sensational form for Tottenham this season, scoring 13 goals in 12 appearances in all competitions.

And Pochettino will be desperate to have him back sooner rather than later, as his side look to maintain their push for major honours.
