The Watford midfielder has been linked with a move to Tottenham Hotspur in the summer.

Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino spoke to reporters during his pre-match press conference today, and responded when asked if he is interested in signing Watford ace Abdoulaye Doucouré in the summer, as quoted by Football.London.

The 25-year-old midfield warrior claimed that Tottenham, Arsenal and Liverpool were all interested in signing him, when speaking exclusively to French media outlet Telefoot earlier this week:

“It’s true that these clubs are interested in me. But I am at Watford and my focus is on finishing the season well and to maintain their Premier League status.”

Doucoure is valued at around £20 million by the Hornets, according to the Sun, and that would actually represent fantastic value in today’s ludicrously inflated transfer market.

With Mousa Dembele set to turn 31 in July, it would be no surprise to see Spurs move for another midfielder in the summer.

Pochettino refused to be drawn on speculation linking Tottenham with a move for Doucoure in the summer, however, when speaking during his pre-match press conference today, as quoted by Football.London:

“I don’t know if the player says that or not. You know it’s a lot of rumours, many, many things happen around a football club like Tottenham. I cannot say anything about rumours.”

The Frenchman would undoubtedly be a useful signing for Spurs, if they do in fact bring him to north London in the summer, and for the reported fee of just £20 million, it should be a deal that the Lilywhites do not hesitate to get done.
