Tottenham Hotspur have released striker Fernando Llorente.

Tottenham Hotspur boss Mauricio Pochettino has told The Mirror that he isn’t the person to ask about a potential deal for Fernando Llorente.

Llorente, 34, spent the last two seasons with Spurs, racking up 66 appearances and 13 goals since his August 2017 move from Swansea City.

The Spanish target man had to play second fiddle to Harry Kane in the Tottenham attack, but did step in well when Kane was injured last season.

On June 30th, Llorente’s £100,000-a-week contract with Spurs expired, with Tottenham letting him go after deciding not to activate a one-year option in his contract.

Intriguingly though, Llorente could yet return to Spurs, with the London Evening Standard claiming that Tottenham have offered him a new contract on reduced terms.

Another interesting factor is that Llorente could yet move on to a London rival, with the Daily Star reporting that West Ham have made contact about a deal.

Today, Spurs boss Pochettino was asked about Llorente’s situation, and gave a curious response to the notion of him signing a new deal with Spurs.

Pochettino admitted that he doesn’t know whether Llorente will re-sign, and even feels he isn’t the person to ask about the matter, seemingly feeling it’s in Daniel Levy’s hands.

“I don’t know. I am not the person you need to ask,” said Pochettino, potentially giving West Ham confidence of swooping to sign him.
