The Tottenham Hotspur striker needs just one goal on Boxing Day to beat Alan Shearer’s calendar year goalscoring record.

Harry Kane’s hat-trick against Burnley yesterday saw him equal Alan Shearer’s record of 36 league goals scored in a calendar year, and Mauricio Pochettino responded to reporters when asked if he would dare take the striker off against Southampton on Boxing Day, if he fails to score, as quoted by popular football news website Football.London.
The 24-year-old hitman has been sensational for Tottenham over the past three-and-a-half years, scoring 120 goals in 188 appearances for his club.
Kane has gone from strength-to-strength this season, banging in 21 goals in 23 games for the Lilywhites, and he has now firmly established himself as one of Europe’s most feared front-men.

The England international hitman needs just one more goal to break Shearer’s all-time Premier League record for the most goals scored in a calendar year, and Pochettino responded when asked if he would dare substitute Kane on Boxing Day if he hasn’t scored, as quoted by Football.London:

“He is always focused in trying to hep the team to win. The first thing is to win the game and then to score goals. We will see what happens during the game. I can’t say anything today.”
Kane’s continual links with Real Madrid and Manchester United must be a major concern for Spurs fans, and if Pochettino fails to guide his team to a major trophy this season, it might be very hard for Tottenham to keep hold of the 24-year-old.
