The Tottenham Hotspur youngster has received heavy criticism for his displays this season.
Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino addressed the media during his post-match press conference, after his side comfortably beat Burnley in the Premier League yesterday, and responded when asked if he was happy with Dele Alli’s performance, as quoted by popular football news website Football.London.
The 21-year-old has received criticism from pundits and fans alike this season, having failed to emulate the form that he showcased last term.
He has racked up just three goals and four assists in 18 Premier League games for Tottenham thus far, having chalked up 18 goals and seven assists in 37 outings last term.

Dele is still only 21, however, and that fact seems to be forgotten sometimes, especially when he is going through a tricky spell.
Pochettino fielded questions about the midfielder during his post-match press conference yesterday, and responded when asked if he was happy with the England international’s display at Turf Moor, as quoted by Football.London:
“He is a special player. He is like he is. When everyone in this country sees him in the last two seasons, I think it was easy. But today we have to see that he is still young, he is 21 years old. Sometimes he makes a mistake. But because he is so special and his character and the way he plays sometimes the crowd focus on him. But today I didn’t think there was anything to say about him. His contribution was fantastic today. I am so happy with his performance. Of cause we demand more and expect more.”
Next up for Spurs is a home game against Southampton in the Premier League on Boxing Day, and nothing less than a win will do, as they look to force their way inside the top four.
