Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino has told The Independent that he has no regrets about his team selections in the last two games having lost 2-1 to Chelsea this evneing – and suggested that Moussa Sissoko’s absence was ‘tactical’.
Spurs went into the game having won just one of the last nine games in all competition, and having failed to win at Stamford Bridge since 1990, few fans went into the game with confidence – especially given how Tottenham collapsed away at Chelsea towards the end of last season to end their title hopes.
However, Spurs did take the lead at Stamford Bridge, as Dele Alli set up Christian Eriksen to score his first Premier League goal of the season.
Chelsea hit back before the break though as Pedro continued his fine recent form with a superb curling shot past Hugo Lloris, and Victor Moses gave the Blues all three points as he met Diego Costa’s cross at the back post to score.

That was Tottenham’s first Premier League defeat of the season, but it’s now just one win in the last ten games in all competitions for Spurs, who are enduring something of a slump of late.
After the final whistle, manager Mauricio Pochettino spoke to The Independent, and suggested that he had no regrets about his team selection despite the result.
Pochettino rested a number of players for the midweek Champions League clash at Monaco in a bid to be fresh for this game, but Spurs ended up losing both fixtures – and the Argentinian says he doesn’t regret his decision.

It was also noted that Pochettino explained the absence of midfielder Moussa Sissoko – who wasn’t even on the bench – as ‘tactical’, which will again bring the Frenchman’s role at White Hart Lane into question.
“I do not regret the team selection,” said Pochettino. “We need to use the whole squad. You have to rest some players sometimes. We are professional and try to make the right decision for the team. If we had won you would not be asking,” he added.
