Tottenham Hotspur boss Mauricio Pochettino has told Sky Sports that he won’t be drawn on reports linking Bordeaux star Malcom with a move to the club.

Spurs were in Premier League action this afternoon as they took on Southampton at St. Mary’s Stadium, with Davinson Sanchez’s early own goal handing the hosts a 1-0 lead.

Harry Kane hit back to hand Spurs a share of the spoils, but it’s more dropped points for Tottenham as they sit outside the Champions League places.

With 10 days to go until the transfer deadline, Spurs fans are hoping to see the club make their first signing of the month imminently, especially given recent reports of a potential move.

UOL Esporte in Brazil reported on Friday that Pochettino has held talks with the representatives of Bordeaux star Malcom, in the hope of sealing a deal worth up to £44million.

Malcom, 20, has been a sensation for Bordeaux this season with seven goals and five assists in 21 Ligue 1 appearances, attracting interest from Arsenal before Spurs allegedly stepped up their interest to make a deal potentially imminent.

After the final whistle against Southampton, Pochettino told Sky Sports that he doesn’t want to speak about the links to Malcom, remaining coy on a move for the attacking midfielder.

Pochettino added that he is happy with the squad at his disposal, again noting that he is open to signing a top player whilst admitting that it’s difficult to sign players in January.

“No that is a rumour,” said Pochettino when asked about Malcom. “I don’t want to speak about a rumour.”

“I am happy with the squad and I’m happy with the players that we have. If there is a good quality player that can help us we are always open but you know very well that it’s so difficult to add players in this transfer window that can help the team,” he added.
