Tottenham Hotspur have yet to make a signing during the January transfer window – but speculation is mounting over interest in two attacking players.

Spurs drew 1-1 at Southampton on Sunday afternoon, struggled to hit top gear in the final third without the creativity of Christian Eriksen, and arguably still lacked pace to get in behind the Southampton defence.

The result means Spurs lie two points off the top four, and Pochettino may now hit the transfer market in order to boost his squad before next week’s deadline.

Attacking players figure to be the order of the day, and UOL Esporte in Brazil reported on Friday that Spurs are closing in on a £44million deal for Bordeaux starlet Malcom after talks between his representatives and Pochettino.

Malcom, 20, has hit seven goals and five assists in 21 Ligue 1 games this season, and has showcased real pace, skill and an ability to score from range, sparking interest from Spurs – though that £44million move could yet see him loaned back to Bordeaux for the rest of the season.

Another link for Spurs is to, ironically, another Brazilian playing in Ligue 1, with Telefoot reporting that Tottenham are keen to bring in Paris Saint-Germain outcast Lucas Moura on loan until the end of the season.

Moura may have hit 18 goals for PSG last season, but he has been bumped down the pecking order this term, and has played just 72 minutes of league action this term, failing to start a single Ligue 1 game following the signings of Neymar and Kylian Mbappe.

Spurs fans have now taken to Twitter following Sunday’s draw to suggest that Tottenham need not one of them, but both Brazilian stars to pull off a decent January transfer window, with some suggesting that signing Malcom and loaning him back to Bordeaux, whilst signing Moura on loan until the end of the season, would make sense, urging Spurs to seal both deals this week.
