Tottenham Hotspur failed to win against West Bromwich Albion in the Premier League this weekend.
Spurs failed to win against West Brom at home on Saturday afternoon and had to settle for a 1-1 draw.
The Baggies took the lead through Salomon Rondon as early as the fourth minute, and Spurs had to wait until the 74th minute to get the equaliser through Harry Kane.
Tottenham manager Pochettino has admitted that his players found it hard to move the ball due to West Brom playing deep after scoring the early goal.
“I think we are disappointed because the effort from us was massive but we conceded the goal so early in the game, and they had the belief to play deep, so it was hard for us to move the ball,” Pochettino told BBC Sport (17:24).
”In the last 15 minutes we increased our level and created a lot of chance to score but we weren’t clinical, it is always difficult in the Premier League when you concede a goal so early, it changes the way the team wants to play.”
West Brom were very defensive against Tottenham, and they did well to pick up a point from the Wembley Stadium in London.
However, it cannot be ignored that Spurs should have been prepared for this. After all, how else were the Baggies supposed to play?
Even if Gary Megson’s side had not score an early goal, they would have still defended deep and made it tough for the Tottenham attacking players.
Spurs should have know that it was the only way that West Brom were going to play away from home at Wembley.
