A much-changed Spurs side ran out 4-0 winners over Huddersfield in Saturday’s early Premier League kickoff.

Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino has highlighted the importance of making each of their players feel like they are an important part of the team following their much-changed side’s 4-0 hammering of Huddersfield Town.
Saturday’s early Premier League kickoff at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium saw seven changes from the Spurs side which beat Manchester City in the Champions League in midweek, as captain Hugo Lloris, Jan Vertonghen, Moussa Sissoko and Christian Eriksen were the only players to retain their starting berths (BBC Sport).
Despite the multiple changes, Tottenham surged into a 2-0 lead by half time as Victor Wanyama and Lucas Moura grabbed goals midway through the first period, and after the interval, Moura went on to seal his hat-trick.
Aside from the scoreline, the Lilywhites were simply dominant throughout, with 70 percent possession and 22 shots (BBC Sport), and with four games – two against Man City – still to come this month, Pochettino said the changes were more than just a case of resting key players.

“It’s so important all our players feel so comfortable, happy and fit with the trust they can compete and be an important part of the team,” he told Football London in his post-match press conference.
“Today players like Juan Foyth, Ben Davies, Davinson (Sanchez), Kyle Walker-Peters, Fernando (Llorente) or Victor Wanyama, it’s so important for them to play 90 minutes and feel they can help the team and feel important. It makes us stronger. We have a very busy period and it’s important all the players feel they can fight for one place to start in every single game.”
Up next for Spurs is Man City away in the Champions League quarter-final second leg on Wednesday and again – in the Premier League – on Saturday, then home games against Brighton & Hove Albion and West Ham United the following week.
