Tottenham Hotspur’s manager has had his say on the club’s victory against Arsenal.
Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino has been speaking after his side defeated North London rivals Arsenal 2-1 at White Hart Lane, in an interview posted on the club’s official Twitter account.
Mesut Ozil put the visitors ahead early in the game but in-form front-man Harry Kane scored twice in the second half to give Tottenham a wonderful victory.
The result sent Spurs ahead of Arsenal in the table and shook things up with the finish line drawing closer – although it remains some way off.
Speaking after the match, Pochettino said, “We didn’t deserve to be 1-0 down. In the end we fully deserved the victory.
“It was a special game and we showed a special energy.”
They certainly did that, with Tottenham impressing throughout and while they looked like tiring late on, that was exactly when they caught Arsenal on the hop to snatch a dramatic winner.
Tottenham have made a habit of scoring late goals and this weekend was no exception.
They had 23 efforts in total – eight of which were on target – and that shoot-on-sight policy ultimately paid dividends in dramatic style.
