Pochettino on Tottenham ace Harry Kane: ‘It will not help him’

The Tottenham Hotspur hitman has been on fire this season.

Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino sat down for his pre-match press conference, ahead of his side’s trip to Huddersfield Town on Saturday, and heaped praise on in-form hitman Harry Kane, describing the 24-year-old as a ‘killer’, as quoted by popular football news website Football.London.

The England international has begun the 2017/18 season in sensational form for Tottenham, racking up nine goals in eight appearances so far for his club, and he must now be considered as one of Europe’s most feared frontmen.

And Pochettino responded to reporters when asked if Kane has closed the gap on Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi over the summer, as quoted by Football.London:

“We cannot put such pressure on Harry because he’s still so young. Then Messi and Cristiano have completely different styles to Harry. Harry is a striker, a killer. They are killers too but in different positions, with different styles to Harry. It will not help Harry to start comparing him to this type of player.”

The 24-year-old bagged a hat-trick in the Champions League in midweek, taking his tally of goals for Spurs to 108 in 173 games, and he is well on course to usurp Jimmy Greaves’ all-time club record of 266 goals.

Next up for Kane and co is a trip to the John Smith’s Stadium in the early Premier League kick-off on Saturday, as Mauricio Pochettino’s men look to close the gap on the leaders at the top of the table.
