Mauricio Pochettino has noted on BBC One (5:07pm, December 4, 2022) that Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper Hugo Lloris was disappointed after he conceded for France against Poland at the 2022 Qatar World Cup.

Tottenham goalkeeper Lloris conceded a late goal, as France got the better of Poland 3-1 in the Round of 16 on Sunday.

It was quite a comfortable victory overall for the defending world champions.

Former Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud, now at AC Milan, scored the opening goal for France in the 44th minute.

Paris Saint-Germain forward Kylian Mbappe made it 2-0 to France in the 74th minute.

Mbappe doubled his tally in the first minute of injury time.

Poland, though, did pull one back in the ninth minute of injury time.

Barcelona striker Robert Lewandowski scored from the penalty spot.

The former Bayern Munich striker actually had his initial spot kick saved by Tottenham goalkeeper Lloris, but the France international was adjudged to have come off the line.

Lewandowski made no mistake at the second time of asking.

Former Tottenham and PSG manager Pochettino was following the match for BBC Sport, and he has noted that the £110,000-a-week (SalarySport) Lloris was upset at conceding.

Pochettino said: “I liked the reaction of Lloris. He was really really upset because 3-0, okay, the last minute, under pressure, yes, clean sheet, of course.”
