Mauricio Pochettino is said to be a huge fan of Chelsea gem Carney Chukwuemeka – a player Burnley are keen to sign.

The 19-year-old has hardly featured for Chelsea this season following a £20m move from Aston Villa back in August.

That has encouraged Burnley to take a look at signing Chukwuemeka on loan this summer – according to TEAMtalk – as Vincent Kompany prepares the Clarets for their return to the Premier League.

Now – however – Burnley may struggle to sign Carney Chukwuemeka as Mauricio Pochettino examines the Chelsea squad he is about to inherit.

What’s the story?

Well – according to the Evening Standard – the Argentine is an admirer of the teenager, and will watch him in Chelsea’s final three Premier League games of the season against Manchester City, Manchester United and Newcastle.

That is, of course, only if Frank Lampard decides to play Chukwuemeka.

The England Under-20 international has only made one Premier League start this season under Thomas Tuchel, Graham Potter and now Lampard.

It has been a disappointing campaign for Chukwuemeka, to say the least – he presumably expected to play a lot more given the amount of money Chelsea invested in his signature.

Chukwuemeka could thrive under Pochettino at Chelsea

In our view, Pochettino would be the ideal coach for Chukwuemeka at Stamford Bridge.

The South American proved in his time at Tottenham that he isn’t afraid to play youngsters, with the likes of Dele Alli, Harry Kane, Eric Dier and Harry Winks all thriving under his guidance.

Therefore, we believe Pochettino would be the perfect man to help gems like Chukwuemeka, Lewis Hall and Mykhaylo Mudryk fulfil their potential in west London.

Hopefully, Lampard hands Chukwuemeka a few starts in the final three games – the Blues have nothing to play for this season, so it would make sense to experiment with a few of Chelsea’s brightest prospects.
