Tottenham Hotspur were comfortably beaten by Manchester City in the Premier League yesterday.

Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino spoke to reporters in the aftermath of his side’s woeful showing at the Etihad yesterday, and chose to highlight the poor manner in which they conceded the first goal as a ‘massive mistake’ that set the tone for the game, as quoted by popular football news website Football.London.
Tottenham are now surely out of the title race, with 21 points separating themselves and league leaders Manchester City, and they will have to re-focus their attention just on forcing their way into the top four, especially if they want to attract players of sufficient quality to the club.
The Lilywhites have once again failed to impress against the big clubs away from home this season, losing to Manchester United, Arsenal and City on their travels.

They also lost at home to Chelsea.
That is quite simply not good enough for a team who were expected to challenge for the league title.
Pochettino spoke to reporters after their defeat against Pep Guardiola’s side, and shared the moment that he believed cost his side the game, as quoted by Football.London:

“I think we were poor. I think not only poor, the way we concede the first goal was a massive mistake for us and when you play against teams like Manchester City if you concede after 15 minutes a goal like this, come on.”
Next up for Tottenham is a trip to Turf Moor to take on Burnley on Saturday, and nothing less than a win will do for Pochettino’s men, as they look for force themselves back inside the top four.
