The Tottenham Hotspur duo are still some way off a first-team return.

Tottenham's Erik Lamela has his penalty saved

Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino has been speaking to reporters ahead of his side’s match against KAA Gent, with his comments published on Spurs’ official Twitter account.

Among the subjects up for discussion was the ongoing recovery of injured duo Erik Lamela and Danny Rose, neither of whom will be fit for the Europa League clash later this week.

Lamela’s ongoing absence is a source of frustration for Tottenham fans desperate to see the Argentine international back in action, and Pochettino had encouraging news even if the winger is not yet ready to return.

“Erik Lamela is making progress and is now working on the field,” Pochettino said. “No date is yet confirmed for a return to full training.”

As for Rose, the Spurs gaffer suggested that it will be some time before the England international is back in contention.

“Danny continues to recover and rehabilitate, but remains a number of weeks away from full training,” he added.

Tottenham have a 1-0 deficit to overcome against Gent before returning to Premier League action against Stoke City next weekend.

They will be boosted by their recent 3-0 victory against Fulham in the fifth round of the FA Cup but will have to be at their best to maintain their interest in all three competitions heading into March.
