Juventus are reportedly looking at appointing Mauricio Pochettino as manager next summer, with Tottenham manager Antonio Conte also on the Bianconeri’s shortlist.

According to Gazzetta dello Sport, the Argentina manager is on Juventus’ radar as an option to replace Massimiliano Allegri if the Serie A giants are unable to hire Conte, who remains club president Andrea Agnelli’s number one option to take over next year.

Pochettino has been out of the job since being sacked by PSG in the summer, and whilst there had been rumours that OGC Nice were interested in appointing the former Tottenham manager, the South American is yet to return to the touchline.

However, this could well change in 2023 with Juventus now interested in appointing Pochettino, with the Turin giants’ pursuit of Conte likely to end in vain given how well Tottenham have done this season and the project the Italian coach has for the north London club.

With Pochettio in need of a new challenge, Juventus could be quite the opportunity given the stature of the club and the task at hand, with the Italian side in need of a fresh approach under a manager who has the potential to change the entire culture of the team.

Indeed, whilst there will be some hesitancy to take over a big club after Pochettino’s failure at PSG, Juventus presents something different to the former Tottenham boss, who could relish the chance to take the fallen Italian titans back to the top of the European game.

Juventus should make Pochettino their priority over Conte

Conte returning to Juventus currently feels like the most likely outcome for next summer. Yet the Italian side should be considering Pochettino as their priority to replace Allegri given how much a total club refresh is needed with the Bianconeri.

After all, Juventus already made the same mistake of appointing a former manager in Allegri after the Andrea Pirlo experiment failed. And with Pochettino, the club could head in an exciting direction under the Argentine with a long-term project rather than a short-term fix with Conte.
