Tottenham Hotspur brought Victor Wanyama to the club last summer.
Speaking to reporters during his pre-match press conference, Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino discussed the form of summer singing Victor Wanyama, and explained how he feels he is now reaching his true levels, whilst highlighting how the position in which he plays is a particularly difficult one, as quoted by the Mirror.
The Kenyan moved to White Hart Lane from Southampton in June, for a fee believed to be in the region of £11 million, and has gone on to make 26 appearances for the Lilywhites so far this season, chipping in with two goals.

But it is on the defensive side of the game where the 25-year-old has been so important to Tottenham, and Pochettino explained how his deep-lying role makes him the target of the high-press from the opposition, as quoted by the Mirror:
“He is a player I know very well and he is showing his real level. He is an important player for us. You can see every week how strong he is, how powerful he is, he provides a very good balance for the team. He is always in a position where he is under pressure because people want to press him. But he is not just a holding midfielder. He can play as well.”

Spurs currently sit in third position in the Premier League table, seven points adrift of league leaders Chelsea, and they possess the best defensive record in the division, thanks in no small part to Wanyama’s presence in the side.
And the Kenyan must maintain his current levels of performance, if Spurs are to mount a sustained challenge for the title this season.
