Josh Onomah has joined Aston Villa on loan, while Cameron Carter-Vickers has moved to Sheffield United also on loan for the 2017-18 campaign.
Onomah, who is 20 years of age and operates as a midfielder, has joined Championship club Aston Villa on a season-long loan deal.
Carter-Vickers, who is 19 years old and plays as a defender, has moved to Sheffield United in the Championship on loan for the 2017-18 campaign.
This is the first time that the two young Spurs players have been sent out on loan to other clubs.
Tottenham manager Pochettino has explained his decision regarding the two youngsters and told Yahoo! Sport: “I think after two years – nearly two and a half – of working with Josh and Cameron, if they cannot reach the starting 11 regularly in the team, the opportunity now is for them to move and try to play.
“Cameron last season really didn’t play too much. The risk is when you don’t compete and you’re young, it’s massive to lose that.
“The most important thing is to provide the possibility to try to play regularly in the starting 11.
“If after two seasons you cannot achieve that, it’s a moment maybe to give them the possibility of playing in another club – like it was with Kyle Walker, Danny Rose or Harry Kane.”
Onomah is a hugely talented and promising young midfielder. but it would have been hard for the youngster to play regularly for Spurs this season.
It makes sense for the 20-year-old to join Villa. Working under an experienced and very good manager like Steve Bruce is only going to help him.
Sheffield United are a massive club, and playing for the Blades this season is going to develop Carter-Vickers as a defender and help him become tougher.
