The Tottenham Hotspur boss had encouraging news on Danny Rose.
Georges-Kevin Nkoudou at Marseille
Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino has given an update on the fitness of two of his wide players, ahead of Sunderland’s visit to White Hart Lane on Sunday, in comments appearing in the Hertfordshire Mercury.
Likely still smarting from the disappointment of Wednesday’s 2-1 loss to Monaco at Wembley, the Argentine has said that new signing from Marseille, Georges-Kevin Nkoudou is still building up his fitness, but should be available for selection next week.
“We’ll see. He needs to work more,” Pochettino said of Nkoudou’s possibility of a debut in the near future, as quoted by the Mercury. “I think maybe he will be ready to be selected next week, maybe but not sure.

“It is going well. He is very young, he speaks only French, it’s a big problem for him. He is learning quickly, but he is still settling into the team.”
It is proving to be a frustrating few months for the 21-year-old, who only completed his transfer on deadline day despite strong links all summer.
But Pochettino’s comments do leave the door open to Nkoudou making his debut in the League Cup tie with Gillingham next Wednesday.

The Tottenham boss also had some words on Danny Rose’s return to fitness, and it was fairly encouraging news.
“If all is going like it is so far I think maybe one week more and he will be available to be selected,” he said of Rose. “Now it is about the feeling every day.”
The England international has missed the last two matches, and would have been a welcome addition at Wembley. With it likely he would be rested against the Gills anyway, Rose may return in the away fixture with Middlesbrough towards the end of the month.
