Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly in the race to sign Lloyd Kelly.
Tottenham Hotspur have two senior left backs in Danny Rose and Ben Davies, but with questions about Jaden Brown’s future, a younger option may be targeted in 2019.
Rose’s future has been up in the air for some time, and Davies hasn’t exactly impressed this season, meaning Mauricio Pochettino may consider another signing to develop.
The Mirror now report that Tottenham are in the race to snap up Bristol City left back Lloyd Kelly, but face major competition to sign him.
Kelly, 20, has come up through the Robins ranks and has starred this season having stepped in to replace Joe Bryan, and now has an England Under-21 cap to his name.
Standing at 6ft 3in tall, Kelly is an imposing, athletic left back who is adept defensively and going forward, and looks set for a huge future in the game.
With Arsenal and Liverpool also keen, Spurs face a battle to land Kelly, but snapping him up ahead of their Premier League rivals would be the perfect start to 2019 after a signing-less summer.
Spurs have already shown that they can develop young players under Pochettino, and Kelly only has to look at Dele Alli to see how a Football League talent can thrive at Tottenham.
Tottenham must sell themselves in that way, urging Kelly to pick them over Arsenal and Liverpool and become the latest young English talent to thrive at Spurs rather than risk being lost in the shuffle elsewhere.
