Spurs moved up to third in the Premier League table following the victory.

Mauricio Pochettino has told Sky Sports that he was left feeling a bit disappointed that Tottenham Hotspur only won 1-0 against Sunderland on Sunday after they dominated proceedings at White Hart Lane.
Spurs moved themselves up to third in the Premier League table after Harry Kane scored just before the hour-mark. But it could have been a lot more comfortable.
Tottenham’s Harry Kane scores the only goal
The home side enjoyed 74% of the possession and had 31 attempts on goal throughout the game, and Pochettino admitted that he did not come away from the victory entirely happy.
“Today the passion and attitude was fantastic and I am a little bit disappointed as we created a lot of chances, but we only scored at the end and it was only 1-0,” he told Sky Sports.

“We deserved more, but it was an important three points for us. We stay near the top and we believe we can do everything this season.”
While the dominance would have surely pleased the Argentinian – especially after their defeat in midweek in the Champions League – he perhaps has the right to demand more of his players in the crucial areas.

Despite Spurs spending much of the first-half camped in Sunderland’s half, it was the Black Cats who came closest to scoring as Jermain Defoe’s close range effort had to be cleared off the line by Kyle Walker.
Had that gone in, it seems likely that the narrative would have still been similar – with Tottenham completely in control of how the game played out – but David Moyes’ men may have secured the kind of confidence boost that would have seen their defending move to another level as they had something to protect, and Spurs may have left ruing that they were not more ruthless when they had the chance.
