The Hornets will leapfrog the Toffees if they win Saturday lunchtime’s clash at Vicarage Road – here is how you can catch all the action.

When Watford beat defending champions Leicester three weeks ago, they rose to the heady heights of sixth in the Premier League.

Consecutive defeats since then have brought the Hornets back down to earth, but Walter Mazzarri’s men will climb back into the top half if they manage to defeat Ronald Koeman’s Everton this weekend.

The Toffees salvaged a late point from their clash with Manchester United last time out, but they have won just once in nine Premier League matches and now sit 10 points off fourth place.

The Key Battle – Etienne Capoue vs Idrissa Gueye

After starting the season on fire in front of goal, Capoue has been more restrained of late – he has scored just once since September – but remains a key cog in the Watford midfield.

Gueye picked up the man of the match award last weekend, with the all-action midfielder continuing to impress for Everton since his summer move from Aston Villa; control of the engine room at Vicarage Road will be crucial to deciding the outcome.

Last Meeting:

Both matches between Watford and Everton ended with the spoils shared last season, with the most recent of those being April’s 1-1 draw at Vicarage Road.

Everton have been a bogey team for the Hornets in recent years; Watford have not beaten the Toffees since 1987, a winless run that encompasses 11 matches between the two sides.

Who’s the ref?

After overseeing last weekend’s chaotic ending at the Etihad Stadium, Anthony Taylor will be hoping for a less controversial afternoon on Saturday.

The 38-year-old sent off both Sergio Aguero and Fernandinho last time out, the first red cards Taylor has shown this season, with David Luiz arguably lucky to escape also receiving his marching orders.
