Younes Kaboul and Roberto Pereyra hit the woodwork for the hosts, but the real star of the show was Nordin Amrabat on the right wing. The 29-year-old was influential throughout and linked up well with Daryl Janmaat down the flank as makeshift Hull left-back Sam Clucas endured a torrid afternoon.
Hull have now lost six matches in a row, while Watford’s three points lifted them above Manchester United into seventh place.
After the match, Hornets fans took to Twitter to praise their Moroccan star.
Even Amrabat’s opposite number Clucas showed his despair on social media, with the former Chesterfield man surely relieved that he will not have to face the Watford man again for some time.
Seventh in the Premier League after 11 games represents a fine start for the Hornets and supporters were keen to show their appreciation on Twitter as their side continued to consolidate in the top flight.
Meanwhile, the news Watford’s win saw them leapfrog Manchester United was not so popular with fans of the Old Trafford club.
Next week Watford face a tough test at Anfield against high-flying Liverpool, but the Hornets look resilient and will back themselves to be difficult to break down.
For this week, however, Hornets supporters can simply bask in the glow of seventh place as Walter Mazzarri continues to have an impact at Vicarage Road.
