Jurgen Klopp’s side are looking to continue their momentum after the late Merseyside derby win.

As the clock ticked over the 90 minute mark at Goodison Park on Monday, Liverpool looked set to drop points for the third time in four matches and ensure Chelsea were left with a clear cushion at the top.

Instead, Sadio Mane’s last gasp winner gave Reds supporters an early Christmas present and closed the gap between themselves and the top of the table to six points – still a lot to make up, of course, but Jurgen Klopp’s side look set to push the Blues all the way.

Tuesday sees the Reds welcome Stoke City to Anfield. The Potters threw away a 2-0 lead against 10-man Leicester last weekend and finish the year with a particularly difficult double header – this trip is followed by a New Year’s Eve visit to Chelsea.

The Key Battle – Adam Lallana vs Joe Allen

The Welsh midfielder makes his first return to the club who sold him in the summer, and he has added goals to his game since leaving Anfield; Allen’s strike against Leicester was his fifth of the season.

Lallana is another who has become more prolific this season, scoring six times and becoming one of Liverpool’s most influential attacking players in the process.

Last Meeting:

The Reds eased to a 4-1 win in April’s clash between these two sides at Anfield, with Divock Origi netting a second half brace for Klopp’s men.

Stoke have not won at Anfield since 1959, when the Potters ran out 4-3 winners.
