Nadir Ciftci was loaned to Plymouth from Celtic at the start of the season.
Plymouth Argyle manager Derek Adams has told the Herald that Celtic loanee Nadir Ciftci cannot return to Parkhead this month, but he could still go and play for another team.
The 25-year-old attacker has featured just eight times this season for the English League One side, after joining the club in the summer on a season-long loan deal from Celtic.
He last played for the Green Army on November 25, coming on with 19 minutes left in a 1-0 away defeat to former Premier League side Portsmouth and with the January window coming round, his future has been thrown into the spotlight.
However, there is no clause in the loan deal that can see Celtic cancel the temporary deal, but Adams claimed the Turkish winger’s agent is working hard to find a new club for the versatile attacker for the second half of the season.
“The only way that Nadir will leave in January is if he goes to another club. He won’t be returning to Celtic,” Adams said. “He will be moving on to another club or he gets himself back in the team here.
“We just have to wait and see. His agent is on the case. I would like to see Nadir playing for us because he’s a talented individual, but he needs to play games somewhere.”
A seven-time Turkey Under-19 international, Ciftci joined Celtic for £1.5million after a prolific spell with Dundee United during the 2014-15 season. He made 22 appearances and scored four time, but was loaned out in January 2016.
He failed to regain a place following his loan with Turkish side Eskisehirspor, before another loan with Polish outfit Pogon Szczecin in 2016-17 also failed to grab the attention of Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers.
Now, with 18 months remaining on his contract, Ciftci could be forced to find a new home for the second half of the season as he continually looks to win back his Celtic career or indeed interest other sides.
