Nadir Ciftci doesn’t seem to have any future at Celtic while Brendan Rodgers is in charge.
Plymouth boss Derek Adams has told The Plymouth Herald that on-loan Celtic striker Nadir Ciftci has “undoubted ability” but urged the hitman to stay patient.
Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers signed off on a third loan move for the 25-year-old in August after deeming him surplus to requirements at Parkhead.
And it hasn’t been a successful spell South of the border just yet as Ciftci – who had spent time with Eskisehirspor and Pogon Szczecin last season – remains goalless from six League One starts for Adams’s side.
The 42-year-old manager dropped him to the bench for Saturday’s defeat by Fleetwood Town but the Plymouth boss insists that he remains a big fan of the Turkish marksman and says he’ll get more chances to impress.
“He played the first six games and a few others he has been on the bench,” he told The Plymouth Herald.
“It’s just about waiting his time to get that opportunity again. He will get that.
“He has got undoubted ability. He can take the ball in, he can score goals and he can link up play.”
Ciftci scored his first goal in a Plymouth shirt on Tuesday but it came in a 5-4 win for their reserve side over MK Dons.
The former Dundee United ace joined Celtic for £1.5 million during Ronny Deila’s reign in Glasgow but it seems very unlikely that he has a career at Parkhead whilst Rodgers is at the helm.
The Northern Irishman could have kept Ciftci as a third-choice option behind Moussa Dembele and Leigh Griffiths, but the former Liverpool boss elected to sign 19-year-old forward Odsonne Edouard on a season-long loan from PSG instead.
