Aston Villa fans have backed Gabby Agbonlahor’s claims that they should ‘steal’ Renato Sanches from Arsenal.
Arsenal defender Gabriel recently urged Sanches to join him at the Emirates – and that prompted a response from ex-Villa striker, Agbonlahor, as he posted on Instagram.
Given that both Villa and Arsenal have been involved in a fair few transfers exchanges this summer, it resulted in Agbonlahor urging his former club to ‘steal’ the player and ‘put a bid in’.
Villa fans have backed the calls from Agbonlahor, with one describing the Portugal superstar as an ‘unreal’ player.
Portugal were knocked out of Euro 2020 at the last-16 stages and the holders flattered to decisive, in truth – but not Sanches.
The former Swansea flop was energetic in the middle of the park, as he showcased his ability to drive his team forward and provide that attacking intent missing from his fellow teammates.
Now, whilst Arsenal have been rumoured to be interested in Sanches’ talents, the same cannot be said for Villa.
And whilst the supporters would welcome him to B6, he’s not going to swap playing Champions League football for no European football at all.
That’s a scenario both Villa and Arsenal are currently in heading into the new campaign.
Nonetheless, Villa have already beaten Arsenal to the signature of Emi Buendia and now they trying to lure Emile Smith Rowe to the Midlands.
Arsenal fans might just be getting sick of the sight of those in Villa colours because they probably feel they are treading on their path a little too much.
