The former Tottenham Hotspur and Middlesbrough striker Mido has advised the Football Association to sack Gareth Southgate and hire Jose Mourinho.
Mido played under the England manager Southgate at Middlesbrough.
But despite having no connection to Mourinho, the Egyptian is clearly a fan of the Tottenham boss.
Posting hours after England’s 2-0 defeat against Belgium, a country in which Mido also played, on Sunday, the 37-year-old tweeted:
Mourinho has taken the Tottenham side he inherited from Mauricio Pochettino to second in the Premier League.
And, perhaps understandably, the following Spurs fans aren’t on board with Mido’s suggestion.
Mido, who retired at the age of 30 after a short spell at Barnsley, was never too far from controversy in a career that saw him play for high-profile clubs such as Ajax, Roma, Marseille and Tottenham.
He was actually signed from Spurs by Southgate at Middlesbrough, but was loaned to Wigan Athletic and Zamalek before the 50-year-old was sacked in 2009.
Southgate later managed the England Under-21s before being promoted after the Sam Allardyce scandal four years ago.
